Routine maintenance of soft starters

Leave a message

Regularly check the environmental conditions of the soft starter to prevent operation outside its permissible environmental limits. Ensure there are no objects obstructing ventilation and heat dissipation around the soft starter, and that there is sufficient space (greater than 150mm) around it.

Periodically check for loose power line terminals and any signs of overheating, discoloration, or burning odor in the components inside the cabinet.

Regularly clean dust to prevent overheating and damage to the thyristors, and to avoid leakage and short-circuit accidents caused by dust accumulation.

Dust can be cleaned with a dry brush, or by using a bellows or vacuum cleaner. For larger dirt deposits, an insulating rod can be used. If possible, compressed air at approximately 0.6 MPa can be used for cleaning.

Regularly observe the operation of the cooling fan. If the fan speed is slow or abnormal, repair it promptly (e.g., remove oil and dust, add lubricating oil, replace damaged or deteriorated capacitors). Replace damaged fans immediately. Using the soft starter without a functioning fan will damage the thyristors.

If the soft starter is used in a humid or condensation-prone environment, it should be frequently dried with an infrared lamp or hairdryer to remove moisture and prevent leakage or short-circuit accidents.
